In Jaws, Amity Island's anxious police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) sits on a crowded beach, hyper-vigilant after a recent shark fatality is kept quiet by town officials. Nearby, young Alex Kintner (Chris Rebello) gets permission from his mother to spend a few more minutes paddling out into the ocean on his yellow inflatable raft. As Brody watches the water with growing unease, an underwater predator zeroes in on the unsuspecting swimmers, culminating in a sudden, horrific attack that sends a fountain of blood into the air. Following an iconic, tension-snapping dolly zoom of Brody's face in sheer shock, a massive panic erupts on the shore as terrified parents scream and scramble to pull their children from the surf, leaving nothing behind but Alex's torn, deflated raft washing up onto the empty, blood-stained shoreline.
