Description
We are in the French Alps, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, where the 2026 WRC Rallye Monte-Carlo will be held at the end of January. We're here to film the tests, which usually take place two weeks before the opening race of the World Rally Championship. In this video, we see the M-Sport's Ford Puma Rally1 driven by Armstrong/Shane Byrne, which, as in the 2025 season, lacks the hybrid system per the regulations. This is evident from the absence of the active safety lights on the windshield and sides of the car, which were present in 2024 and were intended to indicate its operation. Furthermore, the rear bumper's large horizontal air intake, which is needed to cool the hybrid system and battery pack, has been closed. Therefore, even in the 2026 season, the cars will continue to be powered solely by the 1.6-litre turbocharged internal combustion engine, running on eco-friendly fuels and capable of developing approximately 380 hp. The absence of a hybrid system makes Rally1 cars lighter; the minimum weight has decreased from 1260 kg (2024) to approximately 1180 kg today. Per regulations, the flange on the engine intake is reduced from 36 to 35 millimetres to maintain the weight-to-power ratio between the 2024 and 2025/2026 seasons. I must thank my friend and YouTuber @19Bozzy92 , with whom I collaborated on the video footage. Enjoy! 😉
Buona visione! 😉
