It’s essential to check your tyre tread before your long journey for safe driving and good car performance. As seen in this video, you can check your tyre tread with a tyre depth indicator, or you can check your tyre tread with a 20p coin. Here’s how: 1️⃣Insert a 20p coin into the tread grooves on the tyre. 2️⃣If you can't see the outer band on the coin, your tyres are above the legal limit. If the outer band is visible, the tread depth may be below the legal minimum of 1.6mm, and it's time to replace the tyre. 3️⃣Check multiple points around each tyre, as wear can be uneven.
