Description

The 1990s were the decade that changed Indian motorcycling forever. Before the '90s, you rode a motorcycle to get somewhere. By the end of the decade, you rode one because you could not imagine not riding one. In this Gone But Not Forgotten video, evo India takes you through every iconic 1990s Indian motorcycle that defined the era — the Yamaha RXZ keeping the two-stroke flame burning with a 10,000rpm redline and killer instinct, the RX100 had made legendary. The Hero Honda CBZ arrived on February 11th, 1999, with a sculpted tank, trapezoidal headlamp, and features that belonged in a car, not a motorcycle. The Shogun — 14bhp, 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds, more racing victories than any other Indian motorcycle of the era, and a jet black paint scheme that made everything else on the road look ordinary. The Bajaj KB125 gives the KB100's celebrated chassis the engine it always deserved — 12.5bhp from an all-aluminum block with handling that matched the Shogun and the RXZ. The Hero Honda Splendor launched in 1994 and is still selling over three lakh units a month in 2026 — the motorcycle that mobilized a nation. The BMW F650 Funduro, arriving at over five lakh rupees, was built across five countries, too early and too expensive for an India that was not ready. The Royal Enfield Lightning 535 introducing the cruiser segment with road presence no Indo-Japanese motorcycle could match. And the Machismo 350 and 500 trying to bridge the cast iron bullet era with modern efficiency without losing the thump. This was a decade of blue smoke and bold experimentation. The spec sheet could not measure what these motorcycles had. 0:00 Introduction 1:42 Yamaha RX-Z 5:08 Hero Honda CBZ 8:56 BMW F650 Funduro 14:01 Suzuki Shogun 16:55 Bajaj KB 125 19:17 Hero Honda Splendor 24:05 Royal Enfield Lightning 535 26:18 Royal Enfield Machismo #evoIndia #GoneButNotForgotten #Motorcycles #HeroHondaSplendor #HeroSplendor #YamahaRXZ #SuzukiShogun #RoyalEnfield #BajajAuto #VintageBikes #VintageMotorcycles #TwoWheeler Want more #ThrillOfDriving videos?
