Description

Chantal was one of thousands of babies airlifted out of Saigon in 1975 as the city was falling during the Vietnam War. She was then adopted by a family in Australia. Years later, Chantal had her DNA tested in the hopes of finding her birth mother. She hasn’t been able to find her yet. However, in the search, Chantal made an extraordinary discovery: she has a twin brother who lives in the same country. “[I’m feeling] a lot of emotions because I’m searching for answers now, how we got separated … We should have grown up together. We should have bonded, kicked each other up the bum, you know, all those things.” To read more about the discoveries and milestones Australians are reaching as they approach 50 years old, watch Insight episode Turning 50 on SBS On Demand.
