Description
Assistant Chief Luis Menendez-Sierra briefs the media on an officer-involved shooting that occurred at 203 West Greens Rd.
Preliminary information:
At approximately 8:33 am on Monday, December 1, HPD officers responded to a "Hold Up Panic Alarm" from a check cashing business at the above address. This alarm is used by businesses to advise they are being robbed. One officer arrived at the scene and observed a male inside the store with a female employee at gunpoint. The suspect exited the business with the hostage, using her as a shield. The officer fired his duty weapon at the suspect, striking him multiple times. The officer then approached the suspect and rendered aid. The suspect is a Black male between 25 and 30 years of age. He was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or CrimeStoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
