'Needless deaths coming': Consumption sites close

The last two supervised consumption sites in Ottawa are officially closing this weekend as the Ontario government ends funding for the operations. CTV's Kimberley Johnson speaks with former user Jason Demille, who says the sites saved his life countless times and worries the closures will lead to needless deaths. Sandy Hill Community Health Centre director of consumption and treatment services Dean Dewar calls the move devastating after the Rideau Street facility saw an average of 1,700 visits per month. The province is shifting its focus to HART Hubs, forcing the closure of both the Sandy Hill location and The Trailer on King Edward Avenue operated by Ottawa Inner City Health.
