Renewed scrutiny over Anika Wells’ use of taxpayer-funded travel entitlements

Questions have been raised again about Communications Minister Anika Wells’ use of taxpayer-funded travel. According to The Daily Telegraph, she has spent nearly $2,000 on chauffeur-driven Comcar trips for short journeys in Canberra. One trip in 2022 reportedly covered three kilometres from Parkes to Kingston at a cost of $337, with Ms Wells saying delays contributed to higher costs. Earlier this year, she was required to repay more than $10,000 after an audit found multiple breaches of taxpayer-funded travel rules.
