Deputy Opens Fire After Suspect Charges With Knife

* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) Azusa, California — On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., San Dimas Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 5500 block of North Orangecrest Avenue in unincorporated Azusa. The male was later identified as 38-year-old Dilen Flamino. Shortly after deputies arrived on scene, Flamino exited a side gate of the residence armed with a knife in one hand. Flamino was ordered to stop and get on the ground; however, he refused to comply. Flamino, while still armed with the knife, charged directly at a deputy, at which point a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Flamino was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Deputies rendered medical aid to Flamino until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel. Flamino was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. No deputies or other persons were injured during this incident.
