Here’s how you can hand-feed hummingbirds. in 5 easy steps. Step 1: Put out feeders daily until they gather in groups, as if they’re discussing you. Mix 1 part white sugar to 4 parts water. No more chemical red dye— birds don’t need it, and neither do we. We’re trying to build trust here, not throw a rave. Step 2: Go out early in the morning. And hold the small feeder next to the big one. And pretend to be a tree. If a bug tries to make it’s home on your arm, you’re doing it correctly. Step 3—this is where people fail.
