How to send Salawat upon the Prophet (salal llāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)

Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ is one of the easiest acts of worship, yet one of the most rewarding. Allah Himself mentions it in the Qur’an: “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send blessings and peace upon him abundantly.” (Qur’an 33:56) One of the best ways to do so is: اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ. اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah sends ten blessings upon him.” (Sahih Muslim) Think about that. One salawat from you. Ten mercies from Allah in return. Ten sins erased. Ten ranks elevated. Many of us spend hours worrying about our problems, yet a few moments spent sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ may become a reason for our worries being lifted, our sins being forgiven, and our du’as being answered. When you are driving. When you are walking. When you are waiting. When you cannot sleep. Keep your tongue moist with: اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ The one who loves the Prophet ﷺ remembers him often. And the one who remembers him often hopes to be closest to him on the Day of Judgement.
