Description
Alberta’s TransAlta Trail has a bit of a reputation… so I took my Subaru Forester out in the middle of winter to see how it actually handles this trail.
In this video we run TransAlta Trail in Alberta with deep snow, icy water crossings, and a fully loaded adventure Forester. If you’ve ever wondered whether a Subaru belongs on transalta trail, this will give you a real-world look at what it’s like.
In this TransAlta Trail run you’ll see:
• Multiple winter water crossings on TransAlta Trail
• How I check depth and pick lines before crossing
• Snowy valley driving and rutted sections on an Alberta offroad trail
• Real-time decisions when things start to feel “too deep”
• What I’d change next time I wheel this trail in winter
If you’re into Subaru off road, alberta offroad exploring, or you’re planning your own run of TransAlta Trail, this should give you a realistic idea of what to expect and how to prep your build!
The Forester: Built over a few years the 2004 Subaru Forester XS was built to test the limits of what is capable in an early 2000's Subaru with bolt-ons. Created for overlanding adventures it takes on the hardest offroad trails while having everything for camping. The Forester features: custom interior, rooftop tent, ARB rack with custom mounts, high clearance bumper, winch, Hella lights, transmission cooler, sway bar delete, offroad coilovers, AT tires, Beadlock wheels, overland kitchen and engine and trans skid plates. And to many people's surprise often keeping up with full-size 4x4s.
