Hitler's Last Peace Offer? The Secret Ribbentrop Mission April 1945

Following his capture by the British in June 1945, Reich Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop claimed to have been sent on a secret peace mission to the British by Hitler in the last week of the Battle of Berlin. He said Hitler wanted to make a separate peace with Churchill, and split the Allied coalition. Ribbentrop was to hand deliver Hitler's peace proposal to the British high command in NW Germany. Historians still can't agree if Ribbentrop's mission was real or created by him for some other reason, such as self-preservation. It is, nonetheless, a fascinating story.
