The Unfiltered Intake Sound of the N/A Mercedes V8: Heavily Muffled AMG LMGT3 Evo testing at Imola!

It's common knowledge that the naturally-aspirated V8 engine of the various Mercedes GT3 race cars has (and always had) the typical, mechanical intake "shriek" which characterizes the more racy and prepared N/A engines. But even with OEM mufflers, the roar coming from the exhaust tends to overpower the intake sound, so you can appreciate it for brief moments, especially when the car is quite far away. Last week at Imola Circuit, the two Iron Lynx AMG LMGT3s took to the track to prepare for their WEC and ELMS 2026 season. The day took place under strict noise limits (max 103dB, recorded with a drive-by at 10m) so the two cars were forced to use additional silencers. And believe me, they were really quiet in person..
