Why did Gangle's Voice Actor receive HATE for Shipping Ribbun?

Did you know this in the amazing digital circus? Recently the voice actor of gangle revealed that she deleted her tumblr account due to toxic shippers. Let me explain. So marissa lenti, the voice actor for gangle has been a big fan of the ship called ribbon since the pilot. This was the pairing of Jax and Gangle. As the show went on, we got more scenes of jax and gangle together, however alot of them had jax being mean or outright abusive to gangle. This led to alot of toxicity and hate towards anyone who shipped them together. Marissa revealed that she deleted her tumblr account a few months ago because she got death threats for liking ribbun. I’ll roll the clip. Marissa continued on saying that the fandom is great and the hate exists only online. She didn’t expect the show to blow up in the way it did, so thats why she originally engaged with shipping stuff. So overall this really sucks to hear. The fandom is generally positive, but once again the vocal minority ruins it for everyone. It’s interesting too because like marissa said, if the show was alot smaller and didn’t blow up in the way it did, i don’t think the shipping discourse would be as bad. It becoming mainstream was when alot of crazy people hopped aboard and poisoned the well. Gangle’s voice actor got death threats for liking a ship, so you can imagine how much hate the shows creator gooseworx received on tumblr too. So what do you think?
