The series became a genuine cultural phenomenon, turning the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop on Las Vegas Boulevard into one of the most recognizable businesses in America. But life after the cameras stopped rolling has been a different story for Corey. After a devastating crash left him with eleven fractured ribs, a punctured lung, a concussion, and internal bleeding, Corey found himself in a hospital in Playa del Carmen with mounting bills and limited resources. His friend Valentino, who was riding with him that day, described the terrifying moments after the crash, watching Corey lie motionless on the road, bleeding and unable to move. Corey checked himself out of the hospital early to save money, only to end up back in intensive care days later when his condition worsened. With medical bills approaching one hundred and twenty thousand dollars and only a few hundred dollars in his account, he turned to a GoFundMe campaign to ask fans for help.
