How to cool a ferret down with water 💧

Ferrets can't sweat and have very limited ways to cool themselves down. When the temperature climbs, water is the simplest, cheapest tool you have — and there are more ways to use it than people realise. Here's how to use water to keep your ferrets cool: 💧 A heavy ceramic bowl of cool water with ice cubes, refreshed often 💧 A shallow litter tray of water for paddling and belly-cooling 💧 Frozen plastic bottles wrapped in a thin towel, placed around the cage 💧 A damp towel laid on the cage floor for convection cooling 💧 Sprayed-down blankets over an outdoor run create deep evaporative shade 💧 Damp sand in a sandpit stays genuinely cool through the hottest part of the day One thing to never do: if your ferret is in heatstroke, do not plunge them into ice water. The shock can stop their heart. Cool them gradually instead and get to a vet.
