@oneoceandiving right before we left was really starting to fill in for the peak of sandbar season and whale season 😍🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🎶🎵🎶🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋 The whales were singing so loudly near us and there’s nothing that gives me a deeper feeling of connection to something I can only describe as infinity, as being surrounded by sharks in deep open ocean. A vast expansive wild natural wilderness that holds and connects so many intricate webs of life. Makes me feel reconnected to my element and to something infinitely bigger. I observe the sharks as the circle around in the current identifying the most dominant ones and the social dynamics between individuals while also noting ones who have human impacts and new ID marks. I signal back to @JuanSharks who was filming this to record one that has a bad injury to the upper lobe of his caudal fin (upper part of his tail.) Non invasive photo identification and direct observation of sharks in their natural environment allows us to see consistency and differences in the behavior of an individual, changes over a life cycle, site fidelity and seasonal fluctuations, and easily note changes in external morphology. While I’m sure to be missing my “warm” home waters by times this posts I’ll hopefully be resetting my perspective of cold as I enjoy crossing the Drake passage, notorious for the roughest ocean crossing conditions with more than 800 wrecks and more than 20,0000 lives lost, I’m excited to see Antarctica as a remote wilderness and the marine life that I hope are thriving there 🐋🌊🧊🌬️🐧 #SharkDive #whalewatch #infinitefeeling #oceanfeeling #sharkid_tam Vid @juansharks on @gopro
