India responded with a commanding 72-run win over Zimbabwe before sealing their semifinal spot with a comfortable victory over the West Indies in a virtual quarter-final, thanks largely to Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 97. In the semi-final, India brought their A-game with the bat. They went hell for leather from the outset and piled up 253/7 in their 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the charge with a blistering 89 off 42 balls, while useful contributions came from Ishan Kishan (39), Shivam Dube (43), Hardik Pandya (27) and Tilak Varma (21). With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah’s disciplined spell of 1 for 33 from his four overs, along with brilliant outfielding from Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya, helped India hold their nerve and seal a thrilling seven-run victory.
