3 Sources of Spiritual Power (Part 2)

There is POWER in the Blood of Christ! In the early years when I was still a pastor, we used to sing a lot of great songs about the Blood - many will know the song, ‘There’s Power, Power, wonder-working Power, in the precious Blood of the Lamb’. There’s Power to overcome sin, Power to break the curse! The significance of the Power of the Blood of Jesus was foreshadowed in the miracle that brought the children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt - which is prophetic of our being brought out of a life of sin into the life of Christ! They had to sacrifice a lamb and put the blood on the doorpost of their houses. Why? Because that night the angel of death was coming to slaughter the firstborn child of every family living in Egypt. But when the angel of death saw the blood on the doorposts of the Israelites, he passed over and they alone were spared. The Israelites had to remember this every year at Passover and they still do! But we have to come under the covering of the Blood of Christ as our eternal protection. When we take communion, we are reminding ourselves of the Power of the Blood. Scripture is clear: without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Hebrew 9.22. We cannot have a ‘bloodless’ Gospel. I’m sorry, you can’t! When we take communion, we must remember that it’s the Blood of Christ that cleanses us, saves us! The Blood that He shed paid the price of our sin! Come on! This is the basic essential of the Gospel!
