YouTube API Compliance

FameLifter uses the YouTube Data API v3 — the official Google API for YouTube data — and operates in compliance with the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. This page explains how we use the API, what data we display, how often it refreshes, and how to request changes or removal.

Last updated: April 26, 2026

Official API only

All YouTube data shown on FameLifter comes from the YouTube Data API v3. No web scraping, no unofficial APIs, no rate limit bypass.

Fresh data

Data is refreshed at minimum every 24 hours, with most popular content updated hourly. Last-refresh timestamps are visible on every channel page.

Removal requests

Channel owners can request removal at [email protected]. We honor removal requests within 7 days.

What YouTube data we display

FameLifter shows only data returned by public YouTube Data API endpoints. We do not request or store private YouTube user data. The full list of fields we use:

  • Channel title, handle, profile picture, banner, description, country
  • Public statistics: subscriber count (rounded by YouTube), view count, video count
  • Video metadata: title, description, tags, category, publish date, duration, thumbnail
  • Video statistics: view count, like count, comment count
  • Public comments and captions (when explicitly opened by a user)
  • Trending data per country region

We do not collect or display:private analytics, demographics, watch time, retention curves, monetization data, or anything requiring a YouTube channel owner's OAuth consent.

Channel owner removal request

If you are the owner of a YouTube channel and would like FameLifter to stop indexing your channel, here is the process:

  1. 1
Email [email protected] from the email associated with your YouTube channel (or include verifiable proof of ownership).
  2. 2
Include the channel URL or @handle you want removed.
  3. 3
We acknowledge within 24 hours and remove the channel from our index within 7 days.
  4. 4
Future re-indexing is suppressed. Once removed, the channel will not be re-added unless you specifically request it.

Note: removing a channel from FameLifter does not remove it from YouTube or other third-party services. Public YouTube data may still be accessible elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Does FameLifter use the official YouTube API?
Yes. FameLifter uses the YouTube Data API v3 — Google's official, public API for YouTube data. We do not scrape the YouTube website, do not use unofficial APIs, and do not bypass rate limits. Our use is governed by the YouTube API Services Terms of Service.
Does FameLifter affiliate with or represent YouTube?
No. FameLifter is an independent third-party application that consumes the public YouTube Data API. We are not endorsed by, affiliated with, or owned by YouTube, Google LLC, or Alphabet Inc.
How often is YouTube data refreshed?
Channel and video statistics are refreshed at minimum once every 24 hours, and most popular content is refreshed hourly. The "last refresh" timestamp is visible on each channel page so users can confirm data freshness.
How do I remove my YouTube channel from FameLifter?
Email [email protected] with the channel URL or handle. We will remove the channel from our index within 7 days. Note that public YouTube data may continue to be accessible elsewhere on the internet — removal from FameLifter does not remove it from YouTube or other indexes.
How does FameLifter handle authenticated YouTube user data?
FameLifter does not currently request OAuth permissions from end users to read their private YouTube data. All data shown is sourced from the public YouTube Data API endpoints (channels.list, videos.list, etc.) which return only publicly available metrics.
What if YouTube changes its API or Terms of Service?
We monitor YouTube API changelog and Terms updates and adjust our usage accordingly. Material changes (e.g., to data we display or how we collect it) will be reflected on this page along with an updated "Last updated" date.
Are AI-generated outputs based on YouTube data?
AI features (idea generation, summaries, title suggestions) use Google Gemini and may incorporate publicly available video titles, descriptions, and transcripts as context. AI outputs are clearly labeled as AI-generated and are not presented as YouTube data.
