Members of the religious group Iglesia ni Cristo are not allowed to gather on the southbound lane of EDSA on the second day of their rally on Wednesday, July 1, according to authorities.Eastern Police District Director PBGen. Melecio Buslig Jr. said the permit issued to the rallyists only allowed them to gather along White Plains Avenue, affecting only the northbound lane.The INC members were only permitted to use the other side, along White Plains Avenue. We are asking them to move to the other side.The sect secured a permit from the Quezon City local government unit on Tuesday night, June 30, to continue its rally at the People Power Monument. The permit said around 100,000 members are expected to participate.The gathering is also permitted only to start from 8 a.m. and conclude not later than 8 p.m. They were also not allowed to march to other locations.The "surprise" rally started on Tuesday morning, June 30, without a permit and blocked several major routes along EDSA, causing temporary road closures and traffic jams.Iglesia ni Cristo spokesperson Edwin Zabala confirmed that the rallies were conducted to back up Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano and Imee Marcos, spoke at the gathering last night.Meanwhile, Buslig said around 900 police officers from the Eastern Police District and Northern Police District were deployed to secure the area.
