Only Few join in anti-corruption call of White Ribbon March.Church and civil society groups held the White Ribbon March on Sunday, June 28, to continue the call for government accountability amid the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte and the probe into flood control corruption. More than 3,500 joined in the gathering at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City.BAYAN President Renato Reyes, however, clarified that the protest is neither pro-Marcos nor pro-Duterte.The different groups already expressed that this rally, ang panawagan, lahat ng sangkot dapat managot…hindi ito pro-Duterte rally, hindi rin ito pro-Marcos rally, kundi isang klarong anti-corruption protest na malinaw sinapanagot lahat ng sangkot.The rally started with a mass presided over by Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, where he called on government officials to stop being self-centered and embody the selflessness of Jesus Christ.Ang sentro ng buhay natin ay hindi dapat 'ako.' Ang sentro ay walang iba kundi si Kristo," he said in his homily.After the mass, all the groups marched towards the People Power Monument, where the program started at 2:30 pm. Inter-religious and civil society speakers gave their remarks to end corruption. The PNP said no untoward incident took place and the gathering was generally peaceful.Heavy traffic was observed along the northbound lane of EDSA-Ortigas during the duration of the event, so motorists were advised to plan alternative routes.
