Building a Foundation on Legacy: The Continental Coliseum Capsule 🗃️

As the concrete pouring process began for Continental Coliseum, a legacy capsule was carefully placed within the foundation—preserving the story of the community that made this moment possible.   Inside are artifacts that connect Oklahoma City's past, present and future: a wooden coin from the 1972 opening of the Myriad Convention Center, a letter from Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, a copy of "Hope Wins," the iconic photo by OKC Thunder photographer Jimmy Do, captured during the 2025 NBA championship parade, Continental Coliseum groundbreaking memorabilia, four oil samples from active Continental Resources wells in Oklahoma's Anadarko Basin, a timeline chronicling more than three decades of civic investment...    Among the most meaningful items are two ordinary pennies. One dates to 1993, when Oklahoma City voters approved the original MAPS initiative and began transforming the city through a temporary one-cent sales tax. The other is from 2023, when voters approved building Continental Coliseum, continuing that tradition of investing in Oklahoma City's future.   These artifacts tell one story: that lasting change is built over time, through a shared commitment to something bigger than ourselves.   Every artifact in the legacy capsule represents a chapter in Oklahoma City's journey.
