'Accidents, Paper Leaks, Terror Attacks - Will Any Minister Ever Pay For Anything?: Anish Gawande

"Railway accidents? Ashwini Vaishnaw, still minister. NEET, CBSE and JEE scandals? Dharmendra Pradhan, still minister. Fuel price hikes despite record-low crude prices? Hardeep Singh Puri, still minister." A lack of political accountability lies at the heart of the government's biggest controversies, argues NCP (SP) national spokesperson Anish Gawande in the latest episode of Badi Badi Baatein. Responding to criticism that the Cockroach Janta Party hasn't drawn enough people to the streets, Gawande says the size of a protest doesn't always reflect the scale of public anger. "There's a food crisis here," he says, arguing that gig workers, delivery partners and daily wage earners are often too overworked to spend hours demonstrating. He also defends the movement's mobilisation, calling a 4,000-strong protest "remarkably efficient" for an organisation that began as a meme page. But his sharpest criticism is directed at the government's response to repeated controversies. "It is the sheer shamelessness of this government that has forgotten how to listen," he says, questioning why ministers continue in office despite mounting criticism over issues ranging from NEET to railway safety.
