Who's Writing Your Story? | Charles Metcalf | Fear-Less Pt. 5

Your value is not determined by your performance. In the finale of Fear-Less ("This Ain't My Story"), Pastor Charles Metcalf gets personal, a missed pair of free throws in sixth grade, and the narrator it installed in his head for decades: you're good enough to lead, but when it comes down to it, you don't have what it takes. So the work is two-fold. First, recognize who's actually writing your story, the fear of man, the fear of failure, an old wound, a voice that never really saw you. Then, every single day, replace it with the truth. Not one trip to the altar. The daily renewing of your mind. The fear of man says your value is what people think of you. The fear of failure says your value is your performance. But the gospel says you're loved, you're chosen, you're His. And then the turn that brings it home: this ain't your story, and you are not the main character. Humans make terrible main characters. There's only One who can carry that weight, and even Jesus, in the garden, said not my will but yours be done.
