This is the tricky part, the part where so much can go wrong. It's a real test of a potters might as it's an accumulation of so many skills, throwing, trimming, lids, galleries, spouts, handles, drying, all of which must be done properly in order to end up with a successful teapot. One that pours properly, doesn't drip or dribble and has a lid that fits securely in place. So, I'll be taking you through that entire process in this film, I'm working on a pair of small, quite simple vessels, with inset lids that perch upon a gallery. I've also included what I hope are some useful, informative sketches and cross-sections to better explain some of the topics discussed.
