Category breakdowns

Within a country, drill down by YouTube category — gaming, music, education, news, lifestyle, comedy, sports, and 20+ more. Useful for finding niche leaders, scouting sponsorship targets, or benchmarking your channel against the right peer set.

How rankings are calculated

Channels are ranked by current subscriber count by default, with secondary tie-breaking on total view count. We use only data returned by the YouTube Data API at the most recent refresh — no manual ordering, no editorial curation.

  • Primary sort: subscriber count (rounded as YouTube displays it)
  • Secondary sort: total view count
  • Categories assigned by YouTube's own categorization
  • Daily ranking refresh; hourly stat refresh on each individual channel

When to use rankings vs. similarity

Rankings answer "who are the biggest in this country/category?" — useful for market mapping. Similarity answers "who am I really competing with given my niche and tier?" — useful for tactical competitor analysis. Use both: rankings for the lay of the land, similarity for the channels closest to you.

Frequently asked questions

How often are rankings updated?
Rankings rebuild daily. Individual channel statistics refresh hourly, so the underlying data is always current; the ranking position itself updates once a day to avoid noise.
Are rankings based on subscribers or views?
Default ranking is by subscriber count. Total view count is the tie-breaker and can also be used as a secondary sort on most ranking pages.
How are categories assigned to channels?
We use the category YouTube itself returns via the Data API. We do not manually re-categorize channels.
Can I see historical ranking changes?
Pro accounts get historical ranking trends spanning 12 months. The free plan shows the current ranking only.
Why is my channel ranked lower than expected?
Rankings reflect public subscriber count from YouTube. If YouTube's public count is lower than your true subscriber base (lag in propagation, recent unsubscribes, etc.), the ranking will show the public number. Updates flow through within an hour.
