Hundreds of residents march on Seattle's notorious Aurora Avenue, fed up with trafficking, shootouts

A few hundred residents living near Aurora Avenue North marched up and down the busy highway on Saturday evening, blocking off traffic as they called for the city to take action to curb worsening sex trafficking and gun violence that has spilled into their neighborhoods. Multiple elected officials attended the protest within the Oak Tree Village plaza near the pedestrian bridge at 102nd Street, and walked with the frustrated residents on the avenue, speaking to them and listening to their pleas for help. The protest was called after several weeks of consistent gunfire hitting families' homes and vehicles, leaving many feeling unsafe ahead of the summertime, when activity typically ramps up even more.
