This Trailer Folded in Half…

I’ve seen a lot of trailer failures over the years… but this one was wild. This trailer was hauling 45,000 pounds of flour pallets when it suddenly buckled while driving through Los Angeles. Whether it was overloaded, previously damaged, or a combination of both, the trailer literally folded at the weak point and dropped. To stabilize it, I used two spreader bars, one on each side of the buckle point, along with angle irons to spread the load across a larger surface area and avoid creating more damage. For the rigging setup, I went all-in with my Bailey’s synthetic gear: • 8' Grommet slings for the lift • 10' Platinum slings under the trailer • Synthetic shackles to connect them each The goal was simple: lift the trailer, support the structure, and give the crew enough time to safely offload the freight. Once I got it suspended and straightened out, we brought in the forklift and pallet jack and started unloading 45,000 pounds of product. The BEST part of this job was all the love from fans that happened to spot me while I was working. Signing autographs, taking pictures with Hulk 2.0 and even making fans coffee will NEVER get old for me. But THAT wasn’t even the craziest part… After removing the tension, I expected the trailer to collapse right back down. It didn’t! By some miracle, it actually held its shape and stayed standing on its own. The driver was able to safely move it and park it instead of needing a much bigger recovery. Definitely one of those jobs where experience and the right setup make all the difference.
