Why does this snake have such massive teeth? #snake #wildlife

This Snake is well-known for its enormous teeth. These are not technically "fangs" as they do not inject venom, but are just really long teeth. They do fold backwards like fangs found in the mouths of vipers, but vipers generally have 1 set of fangs, whereas the Emerald Tree Boa has rows of massive teeth that allow it to reach out in the jungle canopy and snatch a bird or a bat flying past. These massive teeth also help this snake to grab tree-dwelling rodents and other mammals from branches with less risk of dropping its prey or the prey escaping from its strike. It's commonly believed that this adaptation is to catch birds or bats in mid-flight, but this is actually false, as their diets mainly consist of rodents and other small mammals. I hope that you found this slow-motion video of the Amazon Tree Boa super interesting, and if you have any questions about this species, then let me know in the comments what you think about this snake! #snake #herping #reptiles #wildlife #wildlifephotography Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4tR5ntxMRUvbyb5UX8X2yw/join Support my Wildlife documentaries by joining me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/RobertWedderburn Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertwedderburn/ This video features an Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boa, specifically Corallus batesii, showcasing its intricate details. You'll see several close-up shots of this stunning snake with its mouth open, clearly displaying its impressive fangs. It's a great look at one of nature's fascinating reptiles in the wildlife world. 🐍
