A vast abandoned mansion owned by the Iranian government has fallen into serious disrepair in one of Cheshire’s most affluent areas, with locals describing it as an “eyesore” despite its estimated multimillion-pound value. Brackendene, located in Bowdon near the Cheshire Golden Triangle, has been empty since around 2010 and is now overgrown, vandalised and structurally deteriorating, according to local reports and council records. Once a diplomatic residence used for receptions and official functions, the mock Tudor property has suffered years of neglect following political tensions and the breakdown of UK-Iran relations. Despite its condition, the site is still believed to be worth up to £10 million if redeveloped, though its diplomatic ownership has made intervention by local authorities difficult.
