Heat Stroke In Dogs - Act FAST | Online Vet

Hot weather can be dangerous for dogs and cats. Heat stress can quickly lead to heat stroke, organ failure, and death. Dogs don’t sweat like we do. They rely on panting, which becomes ineffective in high heat or humidity. Watch for signs: • Heavy panting • Drooling • Wobbling or collapse • Bright red gums • Vomiting or seizures These are emergencies. Seek veterinary care immediately. Prevention tips: • Keep pets indoors with fans or air con • Avoid walking in the heat of the day • Test pavement with your hand • Always provide fresh water Use cool water and wet towels to help reduce body temperature.
