Claude Code Just Killed Every Shopify Agency

We installed the Shopify CLI and picked the React template with TypeScript, because that is the easiest stack to customize when you use claude code for shopify store builds and want a real ecommerce result. After the CLI, we installed the Shopify AI toolkit, which is where claude code and shopify actually meet. The MCP carries the docs and validations, and the plugin bundles the agents and skills that drive the build. Together they form the claude code shopify mcp setup that lets the agent understand the platform without guessing. Before building, we prepared the project with a claude.md file covering the practices we have talked about on the channel. We added a Gemini image generation skill so the agent could call the Gemini CLI in parallel and generate real visuals instead of placeholder SVGs. The prototype skill kept iteration cheap, because every claude code landing page shopify change first rendered as HTML for preview before touching the actual app. For the build itself, we prompted Claude with the style we wanted, and it produced the claude code shopify theme through the prototype skill first. Once the design looked right, we let it convert the HTML into the development app, then synced it to the live store with the Shopify CLI. This is the cleanest path for how to connect shopify to claude code without burning tokens on direct iteration in the real app. To turn the build into a working claude code shopify app, we authenticated the Shopify Admin API through the CLI, then re-authenticated with extended permissions for writing products and publications.
