Months later, Bjercke was headhunted by a recruitment agency and offered a large salary, a car, and a flat to build one from scratch. Realizing the lack of a blockchain meant the entire operation was a scam, Bjercke immediately went public. Yet, others who were offered similarly lucrative positions—and also knew it was a fraud—accepted the jobs. Why do some people go along with a scam while others blow the whistle? Why were millions so ready to believe in OneCoin, and why do so many still refuse to admit it was all a con? How can we learn to spot these red flags? Bjørn’s story is supported by a rich trove of archive material, featuring interviews with fraud hunters, journalists, crypto experts, and victims from Oslo, London, Stockholm, and Uganda.
