Starke Beta 5 — The $500 Hidden Gem of Hi-Fi

Starke Audio sent me their Beta 5 bookshelf speakers to review — and I genuinely wasn't expecting what I heard. For $500 these things have absolutely no right to sound this good. The Beta 5 uses neodymium magnet technology — the same tech found in speakers costing two or three times the price. The result is a level of speed, clarity and dynamics that simply doesn't belong at this price point. I paired them with the legendary NAD C320BEE and had room filling volume at less than a quarter turn of the dial. Starke Audio claim reference grade performance for $500. After spending serious time with these — it's hard to argue. Starke Audio provided the Beta 5s for review.
