For 70 years, the Renault Trucks plant in Blainville-sur-Orne has represented far more than an industrial site. From the very beginning, it became part of a successful industrial decentralisation strategy that would establish Blainville-sur-Orne as a major contributor to the regional economy and a key player in road transport. Originally part of SAVIEM, then Renault Véhicules Industriels before becoming Renault Trucks, the plant has continually reinvented itself through the decades. Modernised facilities, increased production capacity, evolving vehicle ranges… Blainville-sur-Orne has supported every major transformation in the industry while remaining true to its core purpose: designing reliable, robust vehicles tailored to customers’ real-world needs. Here, every truck tells a story — the story of the industries and essential services it supports: waste collection, urban distribution, construction, emergency services and more. Vehicles designed for demanding operations, combining performance, manoeuvrability and driver comfort. This ability to adapt vehicles to specific applications remains at the heart of Blainville-sur-Orne’s identity. But the plant’s story is not only about its heritage. It is also about shaping the future of transport. Since 2020, the site has become the first European plant to mass produce medium-duty electric trucks — a major milestone illustrating Renault Trucks’ ability to innovate and support customers in their energy transition. Today, with its dedicated adaptation centre for specialised customer applications and its modernised production lines, Blainville-sur-Orne continues to develop new solutions for increasingly efficient and sustainable transport. Seventy years after the first trucks rolled off its production lines, one thing remains unchanged: the commitment of the women and men who bring this site to life every day.
