TIGER’S NEST TREK (PARO TAKTSANG MONASTERY)
The highlight of this episode is the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang) — one of the most sacred sites in Bhutan, dramatically perched on a cliff at an altitude of around 3,120 meters.
It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew to this location on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated here, which is how the monastery got its name “Tiger’s Nest”.

Entry Ticket: ₹1000 per person

We took total time to & fro Trek Duration: 7 hours
We stopped at the famous midway cafeteria and had coffee for ₹245
From the cafeteria to the viewpoint, there are approximately 245 steps, which is one of the steepest and most challenging sections of the trek.

From parking to the monastery, the trek includes 700–800+ steps (mix of upward and downward sections), especially near the final stretch after the viewpoint.
After exploring the monastery, we returned and had lunch at the cafeteria:

Tshering Farmhouse Experience - We visited a traditional farmhouse in Paro for a local experience:
This was the first time I have ever experienced the Bhutanese Stone Bath, followed by an authentic bhutanese dinner in which we had the following items.

Wild Spinach with Cheese (Damroo Jaju)
Turnip with Cheese (Yundo Datshi)
Ema Datshi (Chilli Cheese)
Rice Cake with Butter & Perilla Seeds (Jamjey)

One of the most challenging airports in the world due to its short runway and mountainous terrain.
