Watch her first wiggles and yawns in high definition! * In this update from my late February 2026 visit to Chester Zoo, I spend some time with chimpanzee Chrissie and her beautiful baby, Cyndi. It is wonderful to see how well Chrissie’s shoulder has healed and she is clearly an attentive mother. As many of you know, Chester Zoo has a long tradition of naming their chimpanzees after rock stars and pop icons. With legends like Stevie (Nicks), Alice (Cooper), and Dylan (Bob) already in the troop, it is almost certain this little one is named after the iconic Cyndi Lauper! Watch closely as little Cyndi wiggles in her mum’s arms. You can even catch a tiny yawn that shows off her perfect pearly white teeth. Chimpanzee Stevie is also nearby. These quiet, observational moments really show the bond within the troop.
