Chimpanzee Annie’s Fast, Fearless and Full of Energy

Chimpanzee Annie is high up in the trees on Chester Zoo’s Chimpanzee Island. After jumping down, she reappears with a lettuce leaf, running quickly before climbing back up the pole to the top. Annie’s energy and speed are remarkable – she moves with total confidence above the ground. Later, she starts building her nest, but ZeeZee soon arrives with baby Jeff. It’s not clear if Annie had taken over Jeff’s nest, but what follows is a touching moment as ZeeZee reaches out her arm to Jeff, who she’d left in the nest while going after Annie. #WorldChimpanzeeDay #ChimpanzeeDay #chesterzoo Filmed end of September 2025 while Chimpanzee Alice was still pregnant.
