Description

*Silverback Oumbi is restless and vigilant as he spots a huge crane 🏗️. Watch him cough and protect his family - rare silverback behaviour.* People seeing Silverback Oumbi for the first time are always impressed. It’s not the first time I’ve heard a “wow” when he makes an entrance – and rightly so, he’s magnificent. Something isn’t quite right today. Asante and Shufai are keeping back. Silverback Oumbi is restless, pacing to and from the window, checking out this strange object again and again. Then he starts to cough - but he isn’t sick. This behaviour, sometimes called a “snough,” happens in unfamiliar or potentially threatening situations. In this case it looks like vigilance. He’s seeing a huge building crane, unfamiliar and imposing, and he wants to protect his family. It’s a natural response for a silverback - he’s doing his job. I hope the crane isn’t there for too long, as I don’t want him stressed. I was hoping they might put a window film up while the building work is going on, so he doesn’t get so anxious. The keepers are aware of the situation and are keeping an eye on him. He charged away from the door, watching closely, coughing every few minutes. While I was focused on Oumbi, I didn’t notice Ozala until nearly lunchtime. She stayed out of sight. They only really briefly went out at lunch time with and went back in immediately. Even then, they didn’t come back outside afterwards, leaving Oumbi still vigilant. #GorillaSound #TwycrossZoo #PrimateVigilance Timestamps – Watch the Highlights: 0:00 – People amazed by Oumbi 0:04 – Something’s off: Shufai & Asante hold back 0:07 – Oumbi spots the crane outside 0:10 – Shufai stays close behind dad 0:19 – Another angle of Oumbi observing 0:35 – Oumbi’s coughing (“snough”) explained 0:43 – Oumbi stands for a better view 0:46 – More coughing, family reactions 1:07 – Ozala appears briefly 1:14 – Ozala climbs down, still cautious 1:38 – Zoo early closing, video ends Support the channel through my affiliate links — at no extra cost to you. 🌐 https://msvrvisual.weebly.com/sloggervlogger.html #ad #affiliate 🚀 Subscribe now for regular updates: https://www.youtube.com/c/SloggerVlogger?sub_confirmation=1 🦧🦍Unlock full video access for less than a coffee!
