Misty Morning Magpie in Maleny One of the most common birds in Australia, yet it's my first video of this wonderful bird. When I was a kid I got swooped by one during nesting season while at school, I was about eight years old at the time. The magpie cut my head open, blood was running down my face, and I as I sought first aid I foolishly declared to the teacher that I wished I could shoot the offending bird, which got me into even more trouble! Anyway, naturally I would never wish to harm a magpie, but when you're eight years old and one has opened your scalp a little bit, it's somewhat understandable that a mild threat might be uttered in that state and in that era. Fast-forward to this particular misty morning at Maleny, and this particular magpie, and it was perhaps a very lucky, special video of a common bird that is often overlooked as we search for more difficult species. #birdlovers #birdwatching #australianbirds
