The Edge is a high energy flat ride at Paultons Park, located towards the far side of the park beyond Valgard: Realm of the Vikings. Opened in 2009, Edge was the first Zamperla Disk’O Coaster of its kind in the UK, combining a spinning giant disc with a coaster style half pipe track and a central camelback hill. Riders sit facing outwards around the edge of the circular disc as the ride moves backwards and forwards along the 90 metre track. The disc spins as it travels, creating a mix of speed, height, direction changes and airtime as it climbs each side of the track and crosses the camelback hill in the centre. Edge reaches a height of 15 metres and a top speed of 43mph, making it one of the stronger thrill rides at Paultons Park. A key part of the ride is the central walkway beneath the track, where guests can walk under the camelback section and feel the disc passing overhead. This gives Edge a strong off ride presence, with the sound, speed and movement of the ride adding to the atmosphere around this corner of Paultons Park. The minimum height restriction for The Edge is 1.2 metres. Guests must be at least 1.4 metres and over 8 years old to ride without an adult. The ride has a capacity of up to 40 riders per cycle and uses Zamperla’s outward facing seating style, giving every rider a clear view as the disc spins across the track. Paultons Park is located near Romsey in Hampshire, on the edge of the New Forest. The park features more than 70 rides and attractions across themed areas including Peppa Pig World, Tornado Springs, Lost Kingdom, Critter Creek, Wild Lands and Valgard: Realm of the Vikings. Alongside roller coasters, water rides, dark rides, flat rides, animal areas, gardens and live entertainment, Paultons Park continues to expand with new themed lands and attractions. Valgard: Realm of the Vikings is now open at Paultons Park, bringing Drakon, Raven, Vild Swing, The Orchard play area and the Feasting Hall to the park. The Edge sits beyond Valgard, making it part of the wider thrill ride line up around this side of Paultons Park. Looking ahead to 2027, Valgard will expand again with Serpent’s Curse, a custom built Mack Rides water coaster, alongside the rethemed and relocated Seal Falls, which will return as Little Serpents. The Edge remains a distinctive Paultons Park thrill ride, mixing the motion of a spinning flat ride with the shape and pacing of a coaster style track.
