Forbidden Valley is themed around the crash site of the mysterious Nemesis creature, where military forces and research teams continue to investigate the alien lifeform buried beneath the landscape. The area combines major rollercoasters, indoor attractions, themed dining, shopping, and entertainment, making it one of the busiest destinations at Alton Towers. Guests can experience Nemesis Reborn, Toxicator, Galactica, and Nemesis Sub-Terra while also visiting BUNKER 94 for ride merchandise, stopping at the Nemesis Reborn Coffee outlet, enjoying a meal at the Rollercoaster Restaurant, or spending time in the R-Cade amusement arcade. The Skyride station also provides a convenient link between Forbidden Valley, Towers Street, and Dark Forest when operating. Nemesis Reborn remains the centrepiece of the area following its complete rebuild and reopening in 2024. Nearby, Toxicator continues the story of the Nemesis creature after opening in 2025 on the former site of Ripsaw, while Galactica offers a completely different experience as riders fly through the landscape in a face-down flying position. Beneath the valley, Nemesis Sub-Terra expands the storyline further with an indoor experience that explores the military research surrounding the creature. Forbidden Valley has changed dramatically over the years. Before Nemesis arrived, this part of Alton Towers was known as Thunder Valley and was home to attractions including Thunder Looper, The Beast, and Beastie. The opening of Nemesis in 1994 completely transformed the area into the military research facility seen today, with Air joining the area in 2002 before later becoming Galactica. More recently, Nemesis Reborn and Toxicator have continued the evolution of the land, while BUNKER 94 has become the home of Nemesis Reborn and Toxicator merchandise. Several former attractions remain fondly remembered by visitors. Ripsaw stood beside Nemesis before closing in 2015, with Toxicator eventually taking its place. The Blade, which had operated in various forms since the 1980s, remained part of Forbidden Valley until its removal in 2023 following decades of operation. Alton Towers Resort is the UK's largest theme park resort, combining rollercoasters, family attractions, and themed accommodation across more than 800 acres of Staffordshire countryside. Beyond Forbidden Valley, guests can explore X-Sector, Dark Forest, Mutiny Bay, Katanga Canyon, Gloomy Wood, the World of David Walliams, and CBeebies Land, where Bluey the Ride: Here Comes the Grannies has joined the family attraction line-up. Alongside the theme park, the resort also features the Alton Towers Waterpark, Extraordinary Golf, and a variety of restaurants and entertainment, making it one of the UK's leading destinations for theme park short breaks.
