Gorilla ANNIE interacts with human | Annie & Her keeper | Ueno Zoo | Haoko

May 2026, at Ueno Zoo. After Gentaro returned indoors, Annie came out. Annie was enjoying interacting with the zookeepers. When she was at Higashiyama Zoo, Annie often threw things into the keeper’s area, and I was able to see her doing that at Ueno Zoo as well. Currently, there has been no new news regarding Gentaro and Annie since the zoo’s announcement that they are conducting face-to-face meetings through a mesh barrier in a non-public area. However, I don’t think there’s any need to rush their pairing. Annie is now eating well and has started showing her smile. I’m relieved to see that she’s found such wonderful keepers.
