President Trump has boasted about ending a war in which 15 million people have allegedly had their “heads chopped off” – another exaggerated claim about his ability to bring peace to the world​. The president made the claim during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One after attending a Nato summit in Turkey, with the US also restarting strikes on Iran. “Think of the wars I settled,” Trump said, after remarking on Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado gifting him with her Nobel Peace Prize. “Eight. Wars that were going on for 30 years.”​ Trump continued, “The Congo vs Rwanda. I settled it after 14 years, and about 15 million people had their heads chopped off.
