[4K] World of David Walliams at Alton Towers, join us for a complete tour of the World of David Walliams, exploring Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Raj's Bouncy Bottom Burp, the Royal Carousel, themed streets, colourful buildings, and one of Alton Towers Resort's family themed areas. The World of David Walliams opened on 17th May 2021, transforming the former Cloud Cuckoo Land into an area inspired by the bestselling books of David Walliams. Located between Towers Street and The Towers, the land recreates characters and locations from the books through colourful architecture, themed shopfronts, oversized props, and family attractions. At the heart of World of David Walliams is Gangsta Granny: The Ride, an indoor dark ride that follows Ben and Granny on their mission to steal the Crown Jewels using a combination of themed sets, projection effects, animatronics, and an original musical score. The area is also home to Raj's Bouncy Bottom Burp, the Royal Carousel, and sits alongside Cuckoo Cars Driving School, giving families several attractions to enjoy in one part of the park. The area has already seen changes since opening. Flavio's Fabulous Fandango, one of the Retro Squad attractions, operated here between 2021 and the end of the 2024 season before being removed. Today, Gangsta Granny: The Ride remains the focal point of the land, supported by the area's smaller family rides and colourful theming. This part of Alton Towers has one of the longest histories anywhere in the park. It originally opened as Talbot Street in 1981, becoming the resort's first fully themed land before later evolving into the Land of Make Believe, Cred Street, and Cloud Cuckoo Land. Over the years it has been home to attractions including Around the World in 80 Days, Doom & Sons, Toyland Tours, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Ride, and numerous family attractions, with each redevelopment bringing a completely new identity to the area. Although the colourful theming remains, the World of David Walliams feels noticeably quieter than it did when it first opened. The roaming performers and street entertainment that once brought the area to life are no longer present, and with the Skyride being closed for over a year, fewer guests naturally pass through this part of the park. The closure of the nearby Alton Towers Dungeon has also reduced footfall, making it one of the quieter themed areas Alton Towers Resort is the UK's largest theme park resort, combining major rollercoasters, family attractions, themed accommodation, and unique experiences.
