Directed by Walter Grauman and starring Cliff Robertson and George Chakiris, 633 Squadron tells the story of a fictitious Mosquito Squadron tasked with a daring, precision strike against a German fuel factory hidden deep in an Norwegian Fjord. The movie’s plot and character are adapted from the second half of the 1956 novel of the same name, written by Frederick E. Smith, a former Royal Air Force officer who had severed during the war. When the film hit cinemas in 1964, it became abox office success. And while it is not without its flaws, 633 Squadron remains a favourite among aviation enthusiasts - celebrated for its spectacular flying sequence and rousing score by Ron Goodwin. While the story of 633 Squadron is fictitious, many elements are grounded in reality.
