Son développement médicale remonte en 1939/1941 Le bâtiment a été construit entre la fin du XIXᵉ siècle et le début du XXᵉ siècle. Il s’agissait d’un hôpital pneumologique, spécialisé dans le traitement des maladies respiratoires, notamment la tuberculose et les pneumonies, qui étaient très fréquentes avant l’arrivée des antibiotiques. Il comptait environ 120 lits. L’hôpital a fermé au début des années 1990, après l’ouverture d’un nouvel hôpital plus moderne à Vercelli. Un projet de transformation en maison de retraite avait été lancé avec un important financement public, mais il n’a jamais abouti à cause de difficultés administratives et de l’abandon du chantier. En 1995-1996, le bâtiment a accueilli temporairement des réfugiés rwandais avant d’être définitivement abandonné. Penicillin was discovered in 1928 by Alexander Fleming. It had approximately 120 beds. The hospital closed in the early 1990s, after a new, more modern hospital opened in Vercelli. A project to convert the building into a retirement home had been launched with significant public funding, but it never came to fruition due to administrative difficulties and the abandonment of the construction project. Il suo impiego in campo medico risale al periodo 1939-1941. L'edificio fu costruito tra la fine del XIX secolo e l'inizio del XX secolo. Si trattava di un ospedale pneumologico, specializzato nel trattamento delle malattie respiratorie, in particolare la tubercolosi e la polmonite, che erano molto diffuse prima dell’avvento degli antibiotici. Contava circa 120 posti letto. L’ospedale chiuse i battenti all’inizio degli anni ’90, in seguito all’apertura di un nuovo ospedale più moderno a Vercelli. Era stato avviato un progetto di trasformazione in casa di riposo con un ingente finanziamento pubblico, ma non è mai stato portato a termine a causa di difficoltà amministrative e dell’abbandono del cantiere. Nel 1995-1996, l’edificio ha ospitato temporaneamente dei rifugiati ruandesi prima di essere definitivamente abbandonato.
