Description
From my discreet observation post, I can exclusively reveal that a policeman, several members of my household staff, and my manservant’s driver have all departed the building at speed, while assorted security chaps with wires in their ears and the facial expressions of men denied biscuits have now arrived.
There has also been a tremendous amount of shouting from the Cabinet Office, always a reliable sign that humans are attempting organisation, with my manservant clearly heard declaring: “The country expects us to get on with governing. That is what I am doing and what we must do as a cabinet.”
This was greeted in the traditional Westminster manner: by more shouting, hurried footsteps, and somebody dropping what sounded very much like an important folder.
However, lunch is shortly to be served, and I must now attend to matters of genuine national importance, namely, verifying that the tuna is fresh and the smoked salmon suitably luxurious.
This is Larry, Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office and part-time correspondent for CNN, the Cat News Network, reporting live from Downing Street, where constitutional drama continues to unfold at a pace not witnessed since someone accidentally locked a junior minister outside with no umbrella.
