We celebrate the journeys of the many families and individuals who made difficult decisions in search of safety, opportunity, and a better future. We celebrate the achievements, resilience, and contributions of refugee communities, and the rich cultures they bring to Aotearoa New Zealand. We celebrate the kindness of the people of New Zealand and acknowledge the opportunities provided to those seeking a new place to call home. While today is a celebration, it is also a time to remember the millions of people around the world who remain displaced and are still searching for safety, belonging, and a place to call home.
